How I choose to work with new years resolutions

When most of us enter into the new year we make some amazing and audacious new years resolutions that we hope with everything we got that it'll stick with us for the rest of the year. Most of us end up checking out early and decide not to play the game all together since we will just avoid self disappointment *nobody likes to let themselves down* . Like a warm fuzzy blanket we hang onto this dream that this is going to be the year that we can really shift into a new way of caring for ourselves, our loved ones and carry ourselves with excellence.

Why , then do we struggle with such an amazing intention? 
 

I found myself asking the same question one day as I sat down New Years day to craft my new years resolution. 

I realized that my approach has been backwards this entire time which would explain why I never really felt like I was off to the races at the start of my year.

The truth is when the new year rolled around I didn't feel fully pumped with motivation and charged up to tackle another year. 


I could barely think about another month, or week with the same energy that I was carrying around after the hustle and bustle of the holidays and the speedy energy December really represented to so many of us this past year. 

In hopes that maybe it was just my own projection and perceived experience I decided to investigate further to see if in fact I was the only one feeling drained and sort of lost at the start of the year. I discovered that many of us felt the exact same way. 

 

It wasn't until I started to reframe the conversation around new years resolutions to goals that I started to grasp what the true intent really should be on *at least for me * 
THIS WAS A GAME CHANGER.


When we're talking goals we were talking about things that can stretch us and really push us outside of the norm and our confort zones of what I'm really used to but it
